Picasso’s Most Architectural Drawings

These series of drawings are perhaps the most architectural drawings done by Picasso in my opinion.

– The first 3 drawings at the top are a series of basic figure drawings, where he starts to get familiar with the object.
– Magic starts to happen on the next 4 drawings as he attempts to eloquently abstract the forms with detail, getting more and more simple towards the 4th. His most successful and complete works are usually in this level of abstraction.
– And in the final drawing with only 5 well planned continues lines he is able to accurately and convincingly represent the form of the bull.
A strong architecural project should be presented similarly, one should be able to explain the whole picture, the big idea, as simply as possible like the final drawing, but the details should be complex and meaningful as it is in the drawings in the middle row.
